Random Musing

I Am Back
May 23, 2010 | 2 comments

So its been a long while. As my short blurb above explained, I was pretty much an emotional mess for the past two months or so. But now with no thanks to therapy; instead bawling my eyes out day and night, I am now a OK! http://emo.huhiho.com LOL yes I am exaggerating a little bit like Hunnie always tell me, but I was an emotional wreck for a good portion of it.

So now that I am fully recharged, I hope to keep this blog active again. http://emo.huhiho.com I like food and snapping pictures of food and I'm pretty sure this liking of mine isn't going to change for a very long time. Since summer has started, I've been being a bum while passing out resume here and there. Sadly, no replies as of yet. http://emo.huhiho.com If no income starts coming in, my belly bursting summer will not be able to become a reality. This is when I wish I live in larger cities instead of the one I am in now. There are so much more opportunities up there.

As you have noticed, I decided to go emoticon happy in my post. I've always wanted to do this like all those cutesie girl blog I stumbled across in my many random clicking. Yes it looks childish but pretty darn cute.

I do have quite a pictures and places to talk about since through my psychotic period, I still managed to snoop around many places. lol Hunnie would definitely yell at me over-exaggerating. I have quite a bit of pics to upload but sadly, Hunnie has taken over my computer to play his game of Ragnarok with my brothers. Well this is just a longer post of the short blurb I posted above. Here's a pic taken a few weeks back at Wasabi in Mississauga. This was for Alina's 2nd birthday. My hair has grown out, but too bad I still can't tie it or do what I used to with it. Instead of taking pictures with the birthday girl, we mainly took pics with Elvin. Sadly he was pulling my hair so I was leaning a bit.

PS: Wasabi wasn't too bad and I will be updating about it with some pics http://emo.huhiho.com

Inglorious Basterds and Some Random
Aug 24, 2009 | 0 comments

So on the weekend we were supposed to go to All Star Wings for a bai bai get together for Benny. Sadly, it never happened for me since hunnie was tired from all the driving and rather just go home and play on his latest obsession. So later that night we went off to watch Inglorious Basterds.

Brad Pitt is major love in this movie and Quentin Tarantino is just pure genius how he executed it. The lineup was crazy long and we nearly had to stand outside just to wait to be let in. But once we were in and got awesome seats, it didn't seem all that bad. Basic plot is like all war movies, kill the Nazis. lol Well not really but this is the movie in a nutshell. The actors and actresses are just fantastic in their roles and the accents. It just makes me fall in love with them even more; well not so much Brad's. The movie is quite long and it seems like it dragged on at times. Hunnie didn't like the movie in the end as it isn't historically correct. In true Tarentino, everything ended in a huge bang bang! KABOOM! lol

A few days before that, hunnie and I went to the airport to pick up a friend. Hunnie was feeling paranoid for not bringing some mask to wear. Guess there's still some precautions to take since H1N1 is still around.

Didn't know the airport had some of these structures outside. Gives you a glimpse of the great north.

After picking up the friend we went to eat at Sun Sun in Mississauga. We're not very fond of that place but its close and convenient. Everything was bland and their jumbo shrimp dish is the size of my index finger; so that's pretty darn tiny.

While surfing around Soompi, I found a cute hair tutorial by Cerinebaby; I believe, and tried it out.

It didn't exactly come out as what I was aiming for but it looked cute so who cares.

It looks nice to me so who cares. lol

With the left over from Sun Sun, nothing much you can do but just pop it all in the instant noodle. lol I found a new brand that I haven't seen before, some korean kimchi flavour.

See that shrimp? That's the supposed 'jumbo' shrimp. Rip isn't it? What else is in? Some veggies I forgot, scallops, egg sunnyside up and wonton. Yum yum... I gave the rest to Jonathan. lol

Okonomi House
Aug 18, 2009 | 1 comments

Last week, I took my two brothers up to Toronto cause Jonathan had an orthodontist appointment. We've been rescheduling over and over again since I was really busy to drive him up there. Sadly we got there late since I got up late and no one in the family bothered to wake me up. I even got a nagging from my mom saying that it was my responsibility to remember. Funny thing was that no one else in the family remembered about the appointment when I told everyone and asked them to wake me up just in case. Argh!

Anyways, after his orthodontist, we decided to get something to eat. Andy was persistent on it since that's how I bribed him to come. lol At first we decided Kenzo Ramen on Dundas, but they didn't take Amex and the menu was nothing like the website so we got up and left. Yeah pretty embarrassing but I lost my mood when they offered so little when their website showed otherwise. My main reason was to get some takoyaki. So I decided to head down to Charles St. for some Okonomiyaki at Okonomi House. I tried the place once way back in November when I went shopping with Tammy. I found this place while lurking around either Soompi or Chowhound.

Okonomi House offers Osaka style Okonomiyaki and has a very simple menu as you can see.

The hard to read prints are the two soups they offer, salads, desserts and beverages. Very limited menu choices but it makes it easier to choose. I find the pricing to be cheap although the servings depends on people. I find it just right but for others might not be enough.

Jonathan's Sunomono or Sumomo salad. I can't remember which it is since I get the word mixed up. I really like this one because it has the vinaigrette is my kind of sour. The salad was somewhat like a soup since the ingredients were swimming in the vinaigrette. Its very cooling and the portion is just right. The noodles aren't chewy at all and the seaweed gives the salad a little crunch. All the flavours and textures went really well together. I really recommend this.

My seafood salad. Its just like your standard salad you can get at a sushi restaurant. It was good but I liked the Sunomono a lot more.

This is before adding in the Bonito flakes and the aonori flakes. The okonomiyaki is first slathered with the okonomi sauce and then the blob of mayonnaise.

Customers get the option to add in the bonito and aonori flakes if they want. It's 50 cents extra. Looks delicious doesn't it?

Andy finished that much of his while I was only almost halfway through mine. Yeah I eat real slow.

Yum yum.

I am not going to write what an okonomiyaki is. Google is your friend people.

Okonomi House has a very old set up that makes it really homey. It's a small establishment that can seat about 20-25 people; I'm assuming, in a quiet street right off of Yonge.

You can see the chef prepare the dishes right in front of you.
Restaurant Decor:

I consider the meal here to be very light and it's something that everyone should try out. Forget about the usual sushi or ramen when wanting to eat Japanese. Another place that offers this is Naniwa Taro up in the food court in the T&T plaza at the Steeles and Middlefield intersection. I have the pics I took from there somewhere just gotta search. Oh well...Peace!! lol

First Post
Jul 22, 2009 | 0 comments

Yes! Finally a few hours of getting pissed and moody I finally got the sidebars to work properly. So this will be my fresh start with yet another blog. =) Last and latest one was on Wordpress since I liked their templates but now that I found templates that are like it, I'm in love with this place now. lol Hopefully I'll get into the whole blog thing since I believe this is the first time I put in so much effort just to get it right.

So what have I been up to so far for Summer of '09? Hmm...lets see...

Toronto NightMarket

And that's how Takoyakis are made in a nutshell. lol The best that night. Everything that night was pretty bleh. It was also super crowded that night as well, barely any room to walk and we had to squeeze through everywhere since people prefer to stand in the middle of the path and refuses to move. Such jerks. Other things we ate were skewered squid tentacles; pretty good but seasoning was only ok, corn on the cob and a nasty omelette; very very very nasty. I could not taste the egg in it at all. Just utter grossness. It was mushy like tapiocas; not the bbt kind, and very sweet.

UFC 100

My dessert after looking at the menu for the umpteenth time. lol With and without flash, I like the one at Moxie's so much more. We got to Boston's Pizza early that night to get a good table for the event. I hated the outcome though. Brock Lesnar won so boo hoo

Hmm...I think that's the only thing I took for this summer. lol So much for making memories. Anyways, first post testing is done so toodles ~
